The Metaplex Foundation has released the next generation of compressed NFTs for Solana and the SVM, designed to power large-scale applications and enterprise-ready use cases.The latest offering, Bubblegum v2, is an upgraded version of the Bubblegum program that’s been used to create 1 billion assets and underpins compressed NFTs (cNFTs) on Solana today. Bubblegum v2 enhances cNFT programmability, while ensuring the assets are scalable and affordable for mass-mint use cases. Developers, creators, and enterprises can now mint and manage millions of assets quickly, cheaply, and securely.
This marks one of the most significant upgrades to digital assets on Solana since compressed NFTs were originally launched by Metaplex, introducing a new suite of plugins designed to meet the needs of large-scale enterprises and applications from gaming to RWAs to AI and more.
New Features for Compressed NFTs:
Permissioned Plugin:
Developers and creators will have the ability to create and execute asset lifecycle events like transfer, burn, soulbound, and freeze, giving more admin control over collections. These events may only be executed if they are written into the original smart contract, which in turn protects users from unexpected changes to their NFTs.
Royalties Plugin:
Royalties are now automatically managed by onchain smart contracts vs. third-party service providers, ensuring that creators continuously receive compensation for their work.
Collection Onchain Attribute Plugin:
Onchain attributes provide direct, trustless references that can enable new capabilities with NFTs such as collection evolution based on in-game events.

Bubblegum v2 Launches with Multiple Partners
The newest upgrade is already live with multiple partners across the Solana ecosystem, allowing builders and users to interact with real-world applications from day one:
dVIN, a luxury wine tokenization platform, will mint 150,000 "Digital Corks" that track provenance, custody, and ownership of rare and collectible bottles.
